Twilight Soundtrack: A Nice Mixture

On November 4, 2008, Hot Topic was packed with eager customers. But this large crowd of youth was not due to a shopping spree. They were eagerly awaiting the soundtrack for the highly anticipated movie, “Twilight.”

This soundtrack features artists, such as Muse, Paramore, and Linkin Park. Each band brings a different mood to the soundtrack, along with soothing melodies, and insightful lyrics. Some of the tracks seem to fit perfectly into the movie, while others put questions into listener’s minds.

All of the songs have an instrumental background that varies in tone and could add a different feel to each scene in the film. Most of the songs seem like they couldn’t be used in the film simply because their lyrics do not seem to fit. The instrumental portions of the songs could be used to help influence the different characteristics of each character. “Supermassive Black Hole” by Muse is an upbeat, techno rock song that brought questions into our minds. The only plausible explanation we could succumb to was a slowly expanding camera shot that reveals Bella seeing Emmett’s Jeep for the first time.
